25 worth of beedi leaves tried to be smuggled from Tuticorin to Sri Lanka! Coastal security police seized!

In that way, beedi leaves are being smuggled from Tuticorin to Sri Lanka from time to time. For this reason, despite the intense surveillance of the Coast Guard, attempts are being made to carry out this smuggling incident.

The smuggled beedi leaves are also confiscated by the Coast Guard from time to time. In that way, two tons of beedi leaves worth 25 lakhs, which were trying to be smuggled from Tuticorin to Sri Lanka, were caught.

The Coast Guard Group police seized 2 tonnes of beedi leaves worth about 25 lakhs, which were stowed in 60 bundles to be smuggled to Sri Lanka in a dilapidated boat off Threspuram beach in Thoothukudi.

The police are conducting intensive surveillance in the coastal area to prevent the smuggling of goods such as turmeric, beedi leaves, herbicides and pain relievers from Tuticorin district to Sri Lanka.

Coast Guard Seized:

Today, the Coast Guard Police received a tip-off that beedi leaves were being smuggled to Sri Lanka from Mettupatti beach in Threspur.

Following this, the police led by Coast Guard Group Police Inspector Cyrus were conducting intensive surveillance in the area at Threspuram Mettupatti beach in Thoothukudi.

At that time, the police found a broken down country boat standing in the area and searched the boat. The police seized 2 tons of beedi leaves worth about 25 lakhs which were stored in 60 bundles to be smuggled to Sri Lanka.

Subsequently, the police are searching for criminals who have stashed beedi leaves for smuggling.
