Election2024: Tamilisai Soundararajan has said that it is sad that many lakhs of voters have been denied their right to vote.
While the first phase of the parliamentary Lok Sabha elections ended on 19th, the second phase of the elections will be held the day after tomorrow. In this context, many are lamenting that they could not vote because their name was not in the voter list. There was a complaint that there was no name in the list even though there was a voter ID card in many places.
Voters expressed regret that they could not fulfill their democratic duty due to this. South Chennai BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan has said that it is sad that many lakhs of voters have been denied their right to vote.
At a press conference in Coimbatore, Tamilisai Soundararajan said that the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu have been completed peacefully. Appreciation should be given to the Election Commission for the smooth completion of the election. But it is regrettable that lakhs of voters have been disenfranchised.
Voting in elections is everyone’s right. It is a sad fact that the right to vote is being denied despite having a voter ID card. Voters have been de-registered in droves. So in my opinion the Election Commission should have monitored this more seriously.
He also said that the Election Commission should seriously consider this matter. Our contention is that even if a voter is denied the right to vote, it is not right in a democracy. He also mentioned that the DMK’s silence on this issue raises doubts.
