Madurai Division Railway Stations:
Madurai Divisional Railway Manager Sarath Srivatsava said that arrangements have been made to provide natural cold drinking water kept in earthen pots to passengers at major railway stations in Madurai Division.
Train Passengers:
The current summer season is accompanied by extreme temperatures and heat waves. Due to this, the passengers traveling in the trains sweat more and the body gets dehydrated.
Drinking water in earthen pots:
Therefore, railway employees, railway scouts, women from self-help groups and volunteers have been engaged in the work of providing clean drinking water to the passengers.
Madurai Divisional Railway Manager Sarath Srivatsava has ordered to provide natural cold drinking water to the passengers.
Which railway stations?
Following this, drinking water stored in earthen pots is being provided at Madurai, Tirunelveli, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Karaikudi, Thenkasi, Ramanathapuram and Palani railway stations.
This new facility has been made in addition to the existing tap water cold water facility. Buttermilk and water bottles are provided free at Tirunelveli railway station.
Also, a salt and sugar water solution is provided to increase the body’s hydration of the passengers. This potable water solution is being provided in collaboration with the state government and the local bodies as per the orders of the Railway Board. The Divisional Railway Manager said that 20 more cold drinking water facilities will be installed in railway stations.
