What is Vaikasi Visagam?
Vaikasi Visagam is celebrated on the day when Purnami Tithi in the month of Vaikasi coincides with Visakha Nakshatra. Today is the day Lord Muruga incarnated from Lord Shiva’s forehead eye. And it is also said that today is the day that Emmadharman incarnated.
Vaikasi month itself is auspicious due to Visakha Nakshatra. The scriptures say that Visakha Nakshatra is a combination of six Nakshatras.

As today is a special day for Lord Muruga and since Murugan has incarnated from the fire, it is considered very auspicious for devotees to take a jug of milk and worship Murugan to cool him down.
