Following Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja has also announced his retirement from T20 cricket after winning the T20 World Cup 2024.
The Indian all-rounder confirmed it through social media after posting a picture of himself in the dressing room with the World Cup trophy after their 7-run win over South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.
In his Instagram post, Ravindra Jadeja said, “With a grateful heart, I bid farewell to T20 Internationals. I have always done my best for my country and will continue to do so in other forms as well. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true and the pinnacle of my T20 international career. Thank you for the memories, cheers and unwavering support.”
The spin all-rounder has come a long way since joining the team under MS Dhoni. But in the recently concluded tournament, he could not make up for it.
Since making his debut against Sri Lanka in February 2009, he has scored a total of 515 runs in 74 matches and has taken 54 wickets in the shortest format. His best performance with the bat came against England in 2022, where he scored 46 off 29 balls.
His best bowling figures were 3/15 against Scotland in Dubai in the 2021 T20 World Cup. In this case, after 17 years, India is back with the Men’s T20 World Cup trophy.
