Diwali is celebrated as one of the major festivals of Tamil people. This year Diwali will be celebrated on 31st October. It is customary for people to go to their hometowns on the occasion of Diwali.
Southern Railway is announcing special trains for this purpose. Similarly, Tamil Nadu government is also announcing special buses. For train travel, tickets can be booked up to 4 months in advance. On the occasion of Diwali festival, Southern Railway has released a notification about ticket booking.
Accordingly, the booking for the trains going on October 28, 2 days before the Diwali festival, started at 8 am on Sunday. This ticket booking was completed as fast as it started. Following this, ticket booking will be done today on July 1 for trains going on October 29.
Bookings for trains leaving on October 30, the day before Diwali, will take place on July 2. For trains departing on Diwali i.e. October 31, the next day reservation will start on July 3.
Passengers can get their reservation tickets online or by visiting the railway stations in person. Railways also plans to run special trains to reduce crowding. It is to be noted that the special trains will be announced closer to Diwali festival.
