Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal called the police control room on Monday (May 13, 2024) morning.
At that time, he said that he was attacked at the Chief Minister’s residence in Civil Lines, Delhi Police said.
Maliwal, who was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in January, is yet to file an official complaint.
Regarding this, DCP (North) Manoj Meena said, “Swati Maliwal called PCR at 9.34 am and said that she was assaulted at the Chief Minister’s residence. He went to the Civil Lines police station and left without filing a complaint. He said he would file a complaint later. Despite repeated attempts, Maliwal could not be contacted,” he said.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has written to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora asking him to submit a detailed action taken report on the matter within three days.
Police records show that two daily diary entries were made regarding the PCR call. First, the caller (Maliwal) claims to have named two people in connection with the attack.
According to Aam Aadmi sources, Maliwal went to the Chief Minister’s residence around 9 am to meet Kejriwal. “She was asked to wait. After a while, an argument broke out between her and Biba and she called the PCR,” said a party leader.
The Aam Aadmi Party is yet to officially respond to queries regarding the incident.
When Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, Maliwal questioned the Rajya Sabha MPs who were absent from the city. He replied that he was in America with his sister who was undergoing treatment. After his return, he campaigned in a couple of constituencies.
Kejriwal’s absence from the AAP platform on Saturday, his first public address after being released on interim bail, was noted by several leaders.
