Chennai : Like Gambhir’s coveted title, the BCCI has appointed former South Africa player Morne Morkel as India’s new bowling coach.
Former India player Gautam Gambhir was recently appointed by the BCCI as the head coach of the Indian team after Rahul Dravid. BCCI secretary Jaisha has recently confirmed in an interview to a private press that former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel has been appointed as the new bowling coach of the Indian team.
He expressed his desire to have Abhishek Nair as the batting coach and Morne Morgal as the bowling coach after his inauguration. Both of them coached Lucknow and Kolkata in the IPL along with Gambhir.
So Gambhir, who wanted to continue that ‘chemistry’, put this option before the BCCI. The BCCI responded that they were considering Gambhir’s request. That’s because foreign players have worked as coaches for the Indian team, but they haven’t made much of an impact.
Also, the BCCI would not immediately agree to a foreign player acting as bowling coach. After that, the fans also shared opinions that Morne Morkel will be appointed as the bowling coach. As of now, the official has not released this information but it has been confirmed in a recent interview given by Jaysha.
