Thiruvananthapuram: While the South West Monsoon rains are falling in Kerala, a sudden cloud burst occurred in the various districts of Kerala today and it rained heavily. Many houses collapsed. There were floods in many places. The Kerala government has announced that 4 people have died in this rain.
Southwest Monsoon started early this year in Kerala. This monsoon, which always starts in the first week of June, has already started in the 3rd week of May this year. Due to this, in Kerala, Tamil Nadu districts like Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Coimbatore and Nilgiris are receiving good rains.
In this case, unexpectedly, cloudburst occurred in various districts of Kerala today (Tuesday) morning. A very heavy rainfall in a small area is called a cloudburst. Accordingly, Kerala itself was inundated by heavy rains within a few hours. Especially, the districts of Ernakulam and Kottayam received ghostly rain. In this, rivers and lakes flooded and entered residential areas. In Ernakulam, Kochi and Kannamali suffered heavy damage due to rain. The Meteorological Department issued a red alert for the districts due to heavy rains.
Similarly, there was heavy rain in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki districts. Roads were flooded due to wild floods in the rivers. Due to this, roads were cut off in many areas. Due to this, more than hundred vehicles were lined up on the road. Traffic stopped. Similarly, thousands of houses in several districts of Kerala were submerged in flood waters. The rescuers rescued the people and took them to safe places.
A 15-year-old boy in Ernakulam, a boy named Arvind (25) in Alappuzha, a boy named Sinan (14) in Kasaragod and a fisherman died due to this heavy rain. Rain is continuing in many places in Kerala. 150 mm in Kamalachery, Kochi. The rain stopped in just 3 hours. It is the amount of rainfall expected in a year.
Due to this heavy rain, yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode districts and orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki districts. The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rain will continue in Kerala tomorrow.
