Heavy rain warning for Coimbatore, Nilgiris today:
The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of very heavy rains today on June 27, while the hilly areas of Coimbatore and Nilgiri districts have been receiving widespread rain for the past few days.
Chennai Meteorological Center Announcement:
According to a notification issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department, 200 mm of rain has been recorded in Chinnakallaru area of Coimbatore on Wednesday.
Not only this, moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur in various parts of Puducherry and Karaikal today, Thursday, June 27, to July 2, due to the change in the speed of western winds in Tamil Nadu. Especially on 27th, there will be heavy rain at one or two places in the hills of Nilgiris and Coimbatore.
Rainfall recorded in Coimbatore District:
As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the maximum rainfall of 200 mm was recorded in Chinnakallar area of Coimbatore district till Wednesday morning, 190 mm of rain in Nilgiri Dewala area, 150 mm of rain in Nilgiri Kudalur Bazar area, 150 mm of rain in Cinchona area of Coimbatore, 130 mm of rain in Nilgiri Bandalur area, Coimbatore Cholayar and Nilgiris. 120 mm of rain was recorded in Wind Worth Estate and 13 mm in areas including Nilgiri Avalanche and Valparai Coimbatore.
Also widespread rainfall has been reported at a few places in the interior districts of South Tamil Nadu and North Tamil Nadu and at a few places in the coastal areas of North Tamil Nadu.
Temperature condition:
In terms of temperature, Puducherry and Karaikal regions of Tamil Nadu may see maximum temperature up to one degree Celsius above normal.
As for Chennai, the sky will be partly cloudy on June 27 and 28 in Chennai and its suburbs. Also moderate rain with thundershower is likely in few parts of the city during evening and night.
Apart from this, the coastal areas of South Tamil Nadu adjacent to the Gulf of Mannar and the Kumari sea areas will be hit by cyclone winds of 55 kilometers per hour today from Thursday to Sunday.
