Continued inspection of firecracker factories till Diwali: Labor welfare department orders

The Tamil Nadu Labor Welfare Department has ordered a thorough inspection of firecracker factories in Virudhunagar district till the end of Diwali. The government has issued this order in response to a series of explosions in firecracker factories.

A fire broke out in a firecracker factory in Sivakasi last month, killing more than 5 people. Another plant also caught fire. Fires are happening in firecracker factories due to the heat.

In this situation, the Tamil Nadu Labor Welfare Department has ordered a thorough inspection of firecracker factories to avoid fire accidents and casualties.

It has been instructed in the meeting that the officials of the Labor Welfare Department should conduct a committee meeting across Tamil Nadu and inspect the firecracker factories in the respective districts. More than 1000 firecracker factories are functioning in Virudhunagar. 4 teams have been formed to inspect this cracker factory.

It has been informed that a team comprising officials from various departments including revenue, fire department and industrial safety will inspect the crackers factories on a daily basis. Action will be taken against any violations found after further inspection. It has been informed that intensive inspection will be carried out in firecracker factories till the end of Diwali.
