Cruelty of untouchability; Denial of decision to Dalit people: 2 arrested

Police yesterday (Sunday) arrested a salon owner and his son who refused to cut hair for Scheduled Castes in Dharmapuri district. They were booked under SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and jailed.

According to SIS Sakthivel, Chinnaiyan (56) and his son Yogeswaran (26) are running a barber shop in Keeraipatti area of ​​Dharmapuri district. On May 9, a 17-year-old youth from Kelapara Dalit Colony went to the salon and asked for a haircut. Yogeswaran refused to cut the boy’s hair by referring to his caste.

And the situation has been the same for the people listed in that shop. Subsequently, the victim showed the video recording of the conversation between Chinnaiyan and Yogeswaran and lodged a complaint with the Harur police on Saturday evening. The next morning, the police arrested Chinnaiyan and Yogeswaran to register a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.
