Delhi, Chennai, Madurai; Bomb threat hits 40 airports in India: Officials on high alert

Delhi, Mumbai, India Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and more than 40 airports, there has been a lot of commotion as bomb threats have been sent by unknown persons through e-mail. Threats to blow up Madurai airport with a pipe bomb and kill people have been made in the e-mail.

Yesterday morning bomb threats were sent to Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy airports. The e-mail addresses of these airports were threatened. Explosives have been planted in toilets and lounges at Chennai Airport. The e-mail said they would explode.

Following this, the airport’s top officials held a high-level security consultation meeting. Central Industrial Security Force, Airport Police, Airline Security Force, Commission Security Officers who are on airport security duty participated in this.

The Central Industrial Security Force, which was engaged in airport security, was alerted. The police were also informed. Bomb experts conducted searches across airports with the help of sniffer dogs. But no bomb was found at any of these airports. However, the incident created a lot of tension at the airports. Security has been beefed up at all airports.

Airport officials lodged a complaint at Avaniyapuram police station following a threat to blow up the airport with a pipe bomb in Madurai. Madurai Police Commissioner was also informed. Subsequently, the vehicles and passengers arriving at the airport were allowed after thorough checks. A series of bomb threats to airports over the past few days has created panic among air travelers.
