The temple administration has announced that the ropecar service will not operate in the Palani Murugan temple for 40 days. Palani Dandayuthapani Swamy temple is the third house of Murugan’s six houses. This temple is about 2000 years old. It is 450 feet above ground level. Palani Murugan at the top of the hill can be visited by crossing 650 steps.
A large number of devotees visit this Murugan hill temple every day.
Lakhs of devotees flock to Palani especially during festivals and special occasions.
Similarly, lakhs of devotees come to Palani during festivals auspicious to Murugan like Tai Poosam, Panguni Uthiram.
Walking up the steps from the base can be difficult. Hence the rope car facility was introduced. For the convenience of the devotees, a rope car service is in use to go from the base to the top of the Palani temple. There are steps, elephant path and rope car to reach the Palani hill temple.
If you go by rope car, you can reach the hill temple in 3 minutes. Due to this, most of the devotees are using the rope car service. Also for safety reasons, monthly and annual maintenance work will be carried out on the rope car from time to time. Due to this the rope car service will not operate on certain days.
Annual maintenance works are to be carried out at this stage. Due to this, the temple administration has announced that the rope car service will not operate in the Palani Murugan temple.
Accordingly, the rope car service will not operate at Palani Murugan Temple for 40 days from October 7. Due to this, the devotees coming to the temple have been advised to use the steps and winch service.
