Haris removed from the post of Muslim Congress vice-president

From the position of Vice President of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and from the membership of the higher faculty of that party, the Amparai District Member of Parliament H.M.M. Haris is suspended.

In accordance with the instructions of M.A. Chairman Raoob Hakeem, Party Secretary Senior Advocate Nisam Kariapar has sent a letter to Member of Parliament Haris today (20) in this regard.

While the Muslim Congress has decided to support Sajith Premadasa in the upcoming presidential election, the party leader Raoob Hakeem has advised all members of Parliament to work for Sajith Premadasa’s victory. However, Member of Parliament Haris has not attended any meeting held in support of Sajith Premadasa so far.

However, the other Member of Parliament of Amparai District Faisal Kasim, Member of Parliament of Trincomalee District M.S. Taubeek – along with the party leader, participated in the meetings held in support of Sajith Pretamasa.

On the other hand, Alizahir Maulana, Member of Parliament for Batticaloa District of the Muslim Congress – has been suspended from party membership for declaring his support for presidential candidate Ranil Wickramasinghe.

This being so, it is also noteworthy that Member of Parliament Haris has received 860 million rupees from the government for development activities.
