Thimpham Hills
There are 27 Kondai needle bends in Thimpam hill next to Thalawadi in Erode district, this hill is the most important traffic area between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka where thousands of vehicles come and go every day.
Wildlife movement
Various wildlife including leopard, tiger, bison and elephants live in this hilly area. The forest department has been advising the motorists to be very careful while passing through each Kondi needle curve.
Heavy traffic
Only trucks weighing 16 tonnes are allowed to ply, but lately trucks weighing up to 25 tonnes are also plying, heavy traffic jams occur in the Thimpham hills, especially in the mornings and evenings.
Accusation of motorists
Motorists are facing a lot of trouble as vehicles line up for several kilometers on both sides of the road. Motorists are alleging that traffic jams are caused here because trucks of more than the permissible size are allowed to ply.
Request to forest department to inspect
The motorists have also demanded that the forest department should investigate and take action. It is noteworthy that the traffic was affected for more than two hours in the Thimpam hilly area bordering Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Forest Department instructions
The forest department has advised the motorists not to get out of the vehicle when the wildlife is in the area where the Thimbum mountain pass is located on the Sathyamangalam Mysore National Highway. The forest department has also asked the vehicles passing through at night to be very safe
