Honda has also patented the designs of two 500cc and one 650cc bikes in India, not just the CB1000 Hornet. Honda has patented the designs of the CB500 Hornet and CBR500R as 500cc bikes and the CBR650R as a 650cc bike.
Honda is selling the NX500 500cc tourer bike in India through their Big Wing showrooms. Apart from that, the company does not have any other 500cc bikes or 650cc bikes for sale in India.
The NX500 tourer bike sold by Honda in India is powered by a 471cc parallel-twin engine. The same engine is also used in the company’s current 500cc bikes, the CB500 Hornet and the CBR500R.
The CB500 Hornet is designed as a 500cc roadster bike and the CBR500R model as a sports bike with full fairings. Also, the new 500cc bikes get the features like switchable traction control system, dual-channel ABS and TFT display offered on the NX500 model.
The CBR650R needs no new introduction. The 650cc bike model has been sold in India since 2015. Now updated for 2024, the CBR650R gets a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and e-clutch technology. Both the standard model and the model with e-clutch technology are likely to be sold in India.
Honda has also patented the design of the CB1000 Hornet model as a bike with a larger engine. The CB1000 Hornet is an updated model of the CB1000 R Neo Cafe model that was previously sold in India.
The company had launched this model in the international market last year. The CB1000 Hornet will probably join the new CB series bike and the new 1000cc bike if Honda launches it.
Since all the designs of these bike models are registered in India, it cannot be said that Honda will launch them here. Honda has already registered the design of various models in India and has not released it. Examples include the Hawk 11 Cafe Racer, CBR250RR, Forza 350, ADV350 and Vario 160.
Honda has recently registered the CB750 Hornet model in India for 2022 but has not released it. So it remains to be seen which of these models will make it to the Indian automobile market
