Madras High Court has questioned how Edappadi Palaniswami can name himself as General Secretary when the case related to AIADMK General Secretary is pending.
Two years have passed since O. Panneer Selvam, who served as the chief coordinator of AIADMK, and his supporters were removed from the party. But the case is still under investigation.
O. Panneer Selvam and his supporters were removed in the General Assembly held on 11th July 2022. Edappadi Palaniswami was elected as the interim General Secretary.
O. Panneer Selvam, Vaithilingam, Manoj Pandian and JCD Prabhakar filed a case in the Madras High Court protesting against their removal and Edappadi Palaniswami’s election as General Secretary.
The case against the resolutions of the AIADMK General Committee came up for hearing today before Justice CV Karthikeyan.
Advocate Yum Bharti appeared for the petitioners and presented arguments. At that time, he said, “Edappadi Palaniswami has filed a petition as a co-coordinator in the Chennai High Court, but now he has filed a reply as a general secretary.”
The judge expressed his displeasure to Edappadi Palaniswami’s side, how can he be referred to as General Secretary when the case related to the General Secretary is pending?
How did you register this petition in the registration department and how did the registration department register the copy, the judge asked. Kanadan also said.
Following this, the lawyer appearing for Edappadi Palaniswami apologized.
After that he directed Edappadi Palaniswami to file an amended petition and adjourned the hearing to August 7.
