RAD Mel Mawatha under Kollupitiya Police Division, the area from Michal Circle via Prime Minister’s House (Alari House) to Rotunda Circle has been closed since 2005 for security reasons.
After 19 years, the road was opened for public use yesterday (04) with the intervention of the Ministry of Defence.
Currently, only one lane is being used for vehicular traffic as the road is being repaired. Both sides will be opened for vehicular traffic once the repair work is completed.
