India plans to develop software for quantum technologies

38India plans to develop software for quantum technology in collaboration with IT service providers at a cost of six thousand (6,000) crore rupees.

The software is being developed to support startups and scientists working in emerging fields in India.

Ajay Chowdhury, co-founder of HCL and head of the National Quantum Project, said that HCL, Tata Consultancy Services and Tech Mahindra are collaborating with IT services companies to implement the project.

We want to advance research on quantum technologies. We are going to set up four separate centers under this scheme. These centers will be established by the coming August. Each of them will be top research institutes.

Funding is expected to be provided to researchers and start-ups through these centres. However, these operate as non-profit organizations. The aim of the project is to help develop highly sensitive magnetic sensors in communication, atomic systems and atomic clocks, he said.
