Ravikumar, a member of the Lok Sabha of the Liberation Tigers of India Party, said that special laws should be enacted to prevent the demotion of government officials belonging to Scheduled Tribes, as is the case in other states.
In this regard, he has alleged that no action was taken even though he submitted a petition to Minister Kayal Vili last year. Due to this, 37 scheduled caste officials have been demoted.
In a post published by Ravikumar, “Tamil Nadu government is depriving SC government officials of promotion and demoting them citing the order issued in a case filed by an OBC member in the Supreme Court against the roster system followed by the Tamil Nadu government for providing reservation in promotion. To prevent this, I submitted a petition to the Honorable Minister Kayalvizhi on this same day last year that a special law should be passed as in various states of India. But that injustice has not stopped yet.
On behalf of Visika, the leader Eruchith Tamil and I discussed this in detail with the higher officials of the Tamil Nadu government. We also brought it to the notice of the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
I understand that even now 39 Deputy Directors are being demoted in Agriculture Department and 37 of them are from SC category. If this continues, no one from the SC category will be able to get a higher position. Can’t the Tamil Nadu government stop this?” he said.
He also said, “‘It was announced in the 2021 Governor’s speech that ‘steps will be taken to fill up the backlog vacancies reserved for the SC and ST category and not filled.’ No such post has been filled yet.
In TADCO for Adi Dravidian people, 469 posts are vacant out of 616 posts allotted to that department as on 30th June 2022. 68 posts have been surrendered. There are more backlog vacancies in the school education sector and the higher education sector. He said that action should be taken to fill them.
