Know your internal health by keeping your nails.

Fingernails– Our nails tell us about the health of our internal organs.

Nail is the shield that protects our finger tips. There is tissue just below the nail. Blood flow is found in those tissues. The U shape around the nail should remain unchanged.

Our nails grow up to 3 millimeters in height in a month and this is when summer is the time for extra growth. A toe can grow about a millimeter a month. This growth indicates that we are healthy.

Reasons for decreased nail growth:

Lack of growth in nails can be due to malnutrition, old age, frequent illness etc.

Do you know which color is a symptom of which disease?

  • If our nails are white in shape like a spoon, it is a sign of anemia.
  • If all the fingers in the nail are swollen like a belly, it is a sign of disease in the internal organs.
  • If the upper part of the nail looks normal and the lower part is white, it may indicate liver disease (cirrhosis) and heart failure.
  • Red spots on the nails are a sign of skin diseases like psoriasis.
  • If the nail is blue in color, it means that the blood flow in the body is irregular.
  • A yellow nail is a sign of jaundice and lymphadenopathy.
  • Black streaks on the nail can be a sign of cancer.
  • If the nail has white spots and white lines, it is a nutritional deficiency.
  • If only the lower part of the nail is discolored, it is a sign of kidney damage.

Nail Care Method:

Trim and clean nails once a week. Do not use blades etc. to cut. Only nail clippers are safe to use.

So if these colors appear on your nails, take the treatment.
