DMK organizational secretary RS Bharti has written to the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu that till the counting of postal votes is completed, the last round of counting should not be announced.
In this regard, in a letter written by DMK organizational secretary RS Bharati to Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyapratha Chagu, “The last round of counting should not be announced until the postal votes are counted. First the postal votes comprising ETBS and ordinary postal votes should be counted separately. Counting of electronic voting machines should start only after 30 minutes.
A press release from the Chennai Corporation Commissioner said that the postal votes will be counted at the end, unlike usual. This does not seem to be correct practice. This statement creates considerable confusion in the minds of counting agents. All election officers should be given guidelines and a general explanation for the same,” he said.
