Lok Sabha elections are going on from April 19. Second phase election was held on 26th April, 3rd phase election on 7th May, 4th phase election on 13th and 5th phase election on 20th. Today (May 25) the sixth phase of election is being held for 58 constituencies.

Elections are held for 6 states and 2 union territories. Elections for 7 constituencies in Delhi and 10 constituencies in Haryana will be held in a single phase today. Elections are being held in 14 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh and 8 constituencies each in Bihar and West Bengal. Elections will be held today in 6 constituencies in Odisha, 4 constituencies in Jharkhand and one in Jammu and Kashmir.

Assembly elections in Odisha are going on in several phases today, elections are being held for 42 assembly constituencies.

The voter turnout was low in all the five phases of elections already held.

  • First Phase Election – 66.14 percent,
  • Second Phase Election – 66.71 percent,
  • Third Phase Election – 65.58 percent,
  • Fourth Phase Election – 69.16 percent,
  • Fifth phase election – 62.2 percent

Rising temperatures are cited as the main reason why voter turnout barely touched 70 percent. It is expected to reverberate in today’s election as well.

People are suffering a lot as the temperature goes up to 48 degree Celsius in districts like Delhi and Haryana. Cyclone Remal, which will form in the Bay of Bengal today, will cross the coast of West Bengal and Bangladesh as a severe storm, so there is a possibility that 8 blocks of people in West Bengal will be affected by heavy rains.

Voting started today at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.

The final phase of voting will be held on June 1 for 57 constituencies. The counting of votes will be held on June 4 and the results will be announced.
