The Artist Women’s Entitlement Scheme is being implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu so that women should not have to wait for anyone for their essential needs and their work should be recognized.

About 1 crore 15 lakh beneficiaries were benefited under the Artist Women’s Entitlement Scheme. In this case, from July 15, another 1.48 lakh users were connected. As a result, the number of beneficiaries of the scheme has increased to about 17 lakhs.
New ration card holders
In this case, at the end of last month, the Tamil Nadu government issued an important announcement. Accordingly, it was informed that the cards will be distributed to 2.8 lakh people who have applied for the new ration cards. It was announced that new ration cards would be distributed while new ration cards were not issued due to various reasons like Women’s Entitlement Scheme initiation and Lok Sabha elections.
Economic qualifications
New ration card holders who fall within the economic eligibility criteria of the Artist Women’s Entitlement Scheme will be included as beneficiaries if they apply for the scheme. In this way, if they apply this month, their applications will be considered and eligible people will be added as users in September.
Women’s vote bank
While this scheme brought by the DMK government has been well received by the people, it is said that it has given more support to the DMK in the elections and it is also being talked about in the AIADMK circles. Mainly women say vote bank has shifted significantly from AIADMK to DMK.
Women’s votes turned to DMK
The AIADMK had a significant women vote bank during Jayalalitha’s tenure. With a woman as the party leader, the party received the women’s vote. After his demise those votes have returned to DMK. In particular, the beneficiaries of artist women’s rights and their families have voted for the DMK.
Innovative Women Project
Similarly, women who are going for higher education through the Innovation Women Program are getting a monthly stipend of 1000 rupees. Political commentators say that through this, Chief Minister Stalin and DMK have received women’s support. AIADMK’s emergency working committee meeting is scheduled to be held on August 16 and the party sources say that a discussion is going to be held regarding attracting women’s votes to their side.
Increasing Entitlement Amount!
DMK’s announcement of Rs 1000 per month for women in the 2021 assembly polls got a lot of attention. The entire campaign revolved around that. So AIADMK also included it in their election promise. They said that they will give 1500 rupees every month. Hence, it is expected that the Women’s Entitlement Scheme will play an important role in the 2026 assembly elections as well.
