Mahindra has also confirmed through this video that the new Thar Rocks car will be launched on Independence Day (August 15).
Apart from revealing the new name, Mahindra has also shown some parts of the new Thar model in this video. We get a glimpse of the LED headlamps, side panels and the car as a whole. The Thar 5 Door is an extended version of the Thar 3 Door model.
No other information is shown or shared in this video. But, various information about these ‘Tar Rocks’ have already been leaked on the internet.
Accordingly, the new 5-door Thar model is expected to feature single-pane and dual-pane sunroofs. Test cars equipped with this sunroof have been spied on before. What the interior of the car might be equipped with is still kept under wraps.
However, Mahindra is expected to use only certain engine options in the Rocks model. 2.0-litre MStallion petrol engine and 2.2-litre MHawk diesel engine options will be offered. Along with this, a 1.5 liter diesel engine is also going to be offered in the base variant.
Rear wheel drive and 4 wheel drive options will also be offered with this engine. A rear-wheel drive option is expected to be offered on entry-level models.
While the Mahindra Thar model is priced between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh ex-showroom, the new Mahindra Thar Rocks model is expected to be priced slightly higher than this.
