The month of Aadi means the best month for temple worship. Although there are many worships and pujas in this month, the most important worship is Nagasaturthi. Snake and Garuda are given important role in Hinduism.
History of Naga Chaturthi;
Brahmadeva’s son Kasyapa had four wives. Nagar was born to one of their wives, Khatri. He cursed his mother to fall into the fire and die because she did not listen to him. Accordingly, many Nagas fell down and died in the Agniagam conducted by King Janame Jayan. Seeing this, Astika stopped the sacrifice and removed the curse. Naga Chaturthi is the day when the curse is freed.
Significance of Naga Chaturthi;
Naga Chaturthi is observed in the month of Aadi, Vakurpirai. If snake is a snake, then if there are snake doshas such as Kaala Sarpa Dosha, Rahu, Ketu doshas in one’s horoscope, there will be hindrance in marriage, hindrance in child luck, hindrance in career, lack of progress etc. If you fast on Naga Chaturthi and worship the Naga deity, these doshas will be removed. If we or our forefathers knowingly or unknowingly harmed a snake in any birth then that dosha will continue for many generations. You can use this day to apologize for this.
Naga Chaturthi 2024;
This year Naga Chaturthi is on Wednesday 7th August at 9pm; Starting at 52 August 8 at 11pm; Ends at 47. Take advantage of the period of Rahu to perform worship on this day.
Methods of Worship;
On that day, go to the temple and anoint the stone dragons with milk and anoint them with turmeric, then add fragrant flowers such as nagalingam flower and jasmine flower, mix jaggery and sesame seeds, or use rice flour and milk to make a pooja. While doing this puja, I should say that I will forgive the sins committed by me or my ancestors knowingly or unknowingly. Since Chaturthi is the day for Vinayaka, we should also worship Vinayaka on this day.
So there are many worships in Hinduism. Those who have naga dosha use this day to perform worship to get rid of your doshas.
