Names of Criminal Acts Change in Hindi; Blunt Hindi stuffing

Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, and Evidence Act have been passed in the Parliament as new criminal laws under the name of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Bharatiya Sakshiya Adhiniyam respectively and came into force from 1st July.

States including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and various political leaders and activists are opposing these three new criminal laws.

In this case, changing the names of the laws in Hindi, which were in English, the common language of all states, is a blatant imposition of Hindi.DMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has condemned.

In this regard, ADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami posted on his X social media page: “The Government of India has brought changes in the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Evidence Act.

Some of the changes have been subject to criticism, mainly the fact that the names of the Acts have been changed to Hindi mixed with Sanskrit which is unacceptable and highly condemnable.

Changing the names of laws in Hindi, which were in English, the common language of all states, is a blatant imposition of Hindi.

Imposition of Hindi is against the fundamental justice and constitutional values of our multi-lingual – multi-cultural nation.

I urge the central government to amend the new laws that have come into force from today and streamline the irregularities in this law and change the names of the laws in Hindi mixed with Sanskrit to English.” He said.
