National Dengue Eradication Week has been declared from tomorrow 26th to 01st June. As there is a risk of dengue spreading nationwide due to the rainy weather, Senior Adviser to the President on National Security and Chief of the Presidential Secretariat Sagala Ratnayake has advised the relevant authorities to take immediate measures to control it.
Accordingly, a special awareness program has been prepared through the Ministry of Education to inform students and parents during the Dengue Eradication Week to be held from 26th to 01st June.
Sagala Ratnayake advised the authorities to take measures to reduce the risk of dengue spreading around government institutions, religious places of worship, new residences, etc.
The National Dengue Control Unit reported that 1,810 dengue cases and nine deaths were reported in May alone.
