Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Sakshya Atiniyam came into force this morning, replacing the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Indian Evidence Act. The first case has been filed against a Delhi roadside shopkeeper.
Earlier DMK legal wing state administrators and district organisers, a consultation meeting was held recently through video. DMK Legal Department Secretary N.R. Elango, Legal Department Head Senior Advocate I.Vidukai participated in this.
In this meeting it was discussed that the three criminal laws today are against the administration of justice, state autonomy and basic rights of the people and are turning India into a police dominated state.
In the resolution passed in the meeting, “On the morning of the 5th, the lawyers should unite and hold a protest demonstration in front of the district courts. The protest we express through this demonstration should be able to knock the deaf ears of the Union Government.
In the subsequent resolution, it was decided to hold a hunger strike near the Egmore Rajaratnam Stadium from 10 am to 6 pm on the 6th against the three criminal laws.
Lawyers from all over Tamil Nadu should participate in the hunger strike in large numbers. Lawyers should participate in large numbers to make our voice of condemnation known to the Union Government.
In the final resolution, “Condemnation seminars should be held all over Tamil Nadu so that not only the lawyers but also the general public can know about the three criminal laws. Forum meetings should be organized so that all lawyers can participate in this seminar without party discrimination. It has also been said that the public should be made to participate in large numbers.
