Male: On the one hand, the crumbling Maldives has apologized to India, and on the other hand, the Indian soldiers have been expelled from their country indiscriminately. International political experts suggest that China’s hand is behind this dual stance.
Maldives, which has been appreciating its close friendship with India, has been constantly teasing our country lately. The shenanigans have continued ever since the pro-Chinese Mohamed Muisu became president of the Maldives.
However, India did not take it seriously. It was in this context that Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Lakshadweep and some Maldivian ministers made a nasty joke and posted it on social media.
Angered by this action by the Maldivian ministers, Indians completely boycotted Maldivian tourism. Also, comments were made against Maldives. Infuriated by this, the President of Maldives, Mohammed Muisu, ordered the Indian soldiers to leave their country. India also agreed to that.
Meanwhile, the economy of the country was severely affected due to Indians’ boycott of the Maldives. Following this, the country’s tourism minister said a few days ago that their economy depends on Indians, so please come and visit Maldives.
Following this, Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Jameer visited India yesterday (May 9) and Indian Foreign Minister S. He met and talked with Jaishankar. At that time, Musa Zameer said that it was a big mistake for his ministers to tease India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has always helped him, and he regretted it.
On the one hand, Maldives is showing a humble face to India and on the other hand, it is clear that Indian soldiers should be expelled within the limits set by them. The Maldivian government had set May 11 as a bad date for Indian soldiers to leave. But everyone expected Maldives to withdraw this order due to its closeness with India.
However, as per his statement, Maldives ordered all Indian soldiers to leave their country today. Accordingly, India ordered the withdrawal of Indian soldiers from Maldives. International political observers suggest that China’s power is behind this dual position of Maldives.
