A woman from Saligram, Chennai Karthik Munusamy, the priest of the Kalikampal temple in Mannadi, lodged a complaint at the Virugampakkam all-women police station on May 13, alleging that she was raped.
He further stated in the complaint that he tied a thali to her and then took her to the VIP’s house and told her to be close to him. She has stated in the complaint that she got pregnant while having a family with Karthik Munusamy and he forced her to have an abortion. He has stated in the complaint that Karthik Munusamy tried to push him into sex work through his friend and when he refused, Karthik Munusamy’s wife threatened to kill him if he told all this.
Distraught by this, the woman informed the temple’s head priest, Kalidas, who scolded Karthik and asked him how much money he wanted for having a family with him. Also, the woman has stated in the complaint that action should be taken against Karthik Munusamy who ruined her life.
Subsequently, the police have registered a case against Karthik Munusamy under 6 sections and are investigating. Temple priest Karthik Munuswamy was dismissed in the case of sexual assault of a woman.
Police are looking for temple priest Karthik Munusamy to arrest him. A lookout notice has been issued to prevent Karthik Munusamy from fleeing abroad.
At the same time, Karthik Munusamy has filed a petition seeking anticipatory bail in the Madras High Court.
