Sasikanth Senthil won by a huge margin in Tamil Nadu

Former IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil, the Congress candidate for the Tiruvallur parliamentary constituency, defeated all his opponents and won by a margin of 5,72,155 votes, making history as the candidate with the highest margin in the history of Tamil Nadu.

In the recently concluded parliamentary elections, there was a six-way contest for the Tiruvallur parliamentary constituency, with former IAS officer Shasikant Sent from Congress in the DMK alliance, Nala Thambi in the AIADMK alliance, Pon.V Balaganapathi in the BJP, Jagadish Chander as the candidate of the Naam Tamilar Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Tamilmati.

A total of 14,17,812 votes were cast in the six assembly constituencies of Thiruvallur Kummidipoondi, Ponneri, Madhavaram, Avadi and Poontamalli that comprise the Tiruvallur parliamentary constituency in the elections held on April 19.

All the registered votes were counted in 34 rounds at a private school in Perumalpattu area next to Tiruvallur and the results were announced today.

From the first round to the 34th round, Sasikanth Senthil was in the lead and got a total of 7,96,956 votes.

Sasikanth Senthil won by a margin of 5,72,155 votes over the BJP candidate Pon.V Balaganapathy, the biggest margin ever in Tamil Nadu and made the BJP, DMD and Naam Tamil Bahujan Samaj Party candidates lose their deposits.

BJP candidate Pon.V Balaganapathi got 2,24,801 votes and in second position was DMK candidate of AIADMK alliance. Nallathambi got 2,23,904 votes, Naam Tamil Party candidate Jagadish Chander got 1,20,838 votes and fourth place and Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Tamilmati Nota got 13,810 votes less than 18,978 votes and got relegated to 6th place.

That means out of the total 14,17,812 votes cast, Sasikanth Senthil alone got 7,96,956 votes or 56.2 percent votes.

Sasikanth Senthil received the certificate of victory from Tiruvallur Parliamentary Constituency Election Officer and District Collector Prabhu Shankar.
