DeepFake: A study has revealed that 75 percent of Indians have watched fake deepfake videos.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly dominant in the world of technology. The technical experts are warning that as much good as bad is likely to happen through this.
Deepfake videos, in which one person’s face is changed to look like someone else’s through AI technology, are currently circulating on social media in large numbers. Some poisoners prepare such videos that it is difficult for common people to find out which is true and which is false. Many actresses, actors and even other celebrities have been affected by these deepfake videos.
About this, McAfee, a technology organization, has prepared a research paper and has now published it. According to it, 75 percent of Indians have seen deepfake videos.
Also, it has been revealed that 38 percent of people have come across a deepfake video and 18 percent of them have been affected by it. 57 percent of those who watched a deepfake video believed what they saw was real,
The report also stated that 31 percent of people affected by deepfake videos lost their money. The McAfee organization reported that 40 percent of those affected by DeepBack Video watched the video in which their voice was changed, and only 39 percent of victims reported it.
Similarly, 55 percent of people who engage in deepfake video fraud are doing so to commit cybercrime, 52 percent are using fake pornographic images, and 49 percent are using deepfake videos to commit fraud.
Shocking information has been revealed that 44 percent of the fraudsters used it to impersonate themselves, 37 percent to prepare fake news, and 31 percent to vote in elections. According to McAfee organization, 27 percent of people prepare videos to distort history (like the fake IPL cricket videos currently circulating on social media) and prepare DeepFake videos.
