SRM Hotel is operating on Racecourse Road near Trichy TVS Tollgate. As the lease period given by the Department of Tourism to the management of SRM to run the hotel ended yesterday (13.06.24), today the officials along with the police cordoned off the SRM Hotel to take possession of it.
Annamalai condemned
BJP’s alliance parties strongly opposed this. Speaking about this, Annamalai said that due to political corruption, Trichy SRM. In an attempt to close the hotel, DMK BJP state president Annamalai said that the government’s involvement is strongly condemnable.

In DMK rule, it is common for its functionaries to act like petty kings. From time to time, land encroachments, Katta Panchayat and encroachments have been a part of DMK rule. It is customary for the DMK to take revenge on others for political reasons in the arrogance of power.
About 20 years ago, for not coming to the alliance, DMK took revenge by demolishing the hall of late Captain Vijayakanth, and even today, Trichy SRM has not changed. The attempt to take over the hotel proves that.
If the people remember that DMK was overthrown for 10 years due to such anarchic activities during the last 2006-2011 regime, if they had any fear of public votes, they would not have indulged in such unfair activities again. However, it is well known that there is no chance of DMK coming back to power in Tamil Nadu due to the three-year long dark regime which has no concern for the welfare of the people, so it has been proved once again that DMK, which is only working with the intention of working for the family as long as possible, has no chance to change.
I strongly condemn the DMK government for destroying the trust of the common people in the honorable court. “While the case is pending, I urge the DMK government to immediately stop this anti-democratic act of contempt of the Hon’ble Court,” BJP President Annamalai said in his statement.

Regarding this issue, Tamil State Congress President GK Vasan said on his Twitter page, “It is unnecessary for the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation to try to take action against the Trichy SRM star hotel. It is urgent for Tamil Nadu to take immediate action when the case related to the lease of the hotel is pending in the court. Not for the government.
Especially since the Madurai High Court Branch has ordered the extension of time to the hotel, the Tourism Development Corporation should have avoided getting involved in the related activities. “Because it will cause inconvenience and mental anguish to various parties including the customers staying at the hotel,” he posted.
Court order
Meanwhile, on the part of the hotel management Chennai In the Madurai branch of the High Court, a case was filed to ‘stop the acquisition of the hotel by the government’. The judge of the Madurai branch of the High Court heard the case and ordered that the hotel should not be taken over until the 18th Tuesday.
Tourism officials who came to take over the hotel early in the morning dispersed after the High Court order.
