6A lorry carrying iron caught fire yesterday morning (18) in the Kothanthivu area of the Mangal Phra-Chinnapad main road of Munthal region and was completely destroyed by fire.
Due to this, the traffic through the road was blocked for about two hours. Yesterday at 11.00 am from Kothanthivu area, a lorry carrying firewood cut the electric wire on the road and while it was traveling, a sudden fire broke out in the firewood in the lorry.
It is reported that several lakhs of rupees have been lost due to the spread of the fire. The fire which broke out in a lorry loaded with tumpi was brought under control amid a long struggle by the people of the region.
The Utappu police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
