Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India’s golden age will begin with the reconstruction of Nalanda, which is the world’s first residential university.
While addressing the official inauguration of this university, Prime Minister Modi continued to mention that Nalanda is not just a name. It is a mantra and a symbol. Books may perish in fire. But knowledge endures.
Symbolizing the renaissance of the past, Nalanda was once the epicenter of education in India. Education transcends the boundaries of profit and loss. Education can shape our thoughts and behavior.
In ancient times students were not admitted to this university on the basis of nationality. People from many regions have come here to learn.
On this occasion, External Affairs Minister Kalanithi S. Ambassadors of many countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Mauritius, Myanmar, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea have participated and Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam have also signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate with this university.
