Recovery of the bodies of the victims
In this accident, three devotees namely Mahes (35), Paunraj (45) and Murugan (45) from Melanilindanallur village of Tenkasi district died on the spot. Also, after getting information about the accident, Chatur taluka police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the accident victims and sent them to Kovilpatti Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Cement lorry driver Manikandan arrested and interrogated
Also, the Chathur taluk police have arrested Manikandan, the driver of the cement truck who caused the accident and are investigating. Even the incident where a lorry hit the pilgrims on foot and killed 3 people on the spot has shocked the pilgrims. The police are also investigating the cause of the accident.
