The photographs of the AIIMS hospital construction work being carried out by L&D in Madurai are going viral. The construction work of Madurai AIIMS has started on an area of about 222 acres at Thopur near Tirumangalam, Madurai at an estimated cost of 1927.8 crores.
After many delays, L&T, one of India’s leading construction companies, has been awarded the contract for the construction of AIIMS Madurai and has been carrying out the work in full swing for the past few days.
What are the facilities?
The works are planned to be completed in two phases in 33 months. For which the environmental clearance of the Tamil Nadu government was recently obtained and the construction work was intensified.
42 buildings with a total area of 2,31,782 square meters are to be constructed here. In addition to the hospital, a nursing college, student hostels, staff quarters and laboratories are also to be set up.

82% of the funds for this hospital work will be provided by Japan Zika as a loan while the central government will provide the remaining 18%.

MP Manickam Tagore, Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Director of Madurai participated in this. After this meeting, MP Manikam Thakur said that Madurai AIIMS hospital buildings will be visible in front of our eyes in 18 months.
