Puducherry New Bus Stand:
Puducherry New Bus Stand has been temporarily shifted from 16th June for Smart City project works.
The new bus station in Urulayanpet area of Puducherry is currently undergoing a smart city project to upgrade it with modern facilities at an estimated cost of 36 crores.
Smart City Project Activities:
Due to this smart city project work, a critical situation was seen in the bus stand without enough space for buses. As a result, it was decided to temporarily shift the bus stand to the AFT ground on Cuddalore road and the work started after the announcement of Lok Sabha election results.
Following this, while the bus stand is temporarily functioning, parking of vehicles on both sides of the road from Tyagi Venkatasubba Reddyar Jail to Railway Gate on Cuddalore Road has been prohibited. It was also informed that all the route buses will be operated from the ground until the construction work is completed.
First Time Paid Parking:
In this situation, not only the public from Puducherry but also a large number of public and laborers from Tamil Nadu visit this bus station on weekdays and weekdays. While the passengers coming here used to park their two-wheelers in one of the shopping malls near AFT Thital, now parking charges have come into effect for the first time on Cuddalore Road.
For this, the Puducherry municipal administration has given permission to park two-wheelers on one side from Antoniyar Temple to the railway gate and introduced parking charges there. A fee of ten rupees per two-wheeler is charged for this.
Also tender for paid parking on Puducherry Municipality Cuddalore Road is now open. Apart from collecting parking fees, more than ten employees are also engaged in regulating the two-wheelers on the Cuddalore road.
