UK election: 14 years of Conservative rule comes to an end

79The Conservative Party has accepted defeat in the British parliamentary elections. In this case, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said that he takes full responsibility for this failure. The Labor Party forms the government in that country.

Regarding the defeat, Rishi Sunak said, “The Labor Party has won the election. I contacted Keir Starmer and spoke to him. I congratulated him. Today, power has changed hands peacefully. The future of our country depends on a government that gives hope to all of us. I take full responsibility for this failure. Forgive me.” He contested and won a parliamentary seat in the North of England.

It is noteworthy that the party that wins more than 326 of the total 650 constituencies in Britain will take power. In that way the Labor Party is going to form the government. With this, the party has come to power after 14 years. The Labor Party won the last election in 2005. Gordon Brown was then Prime Minister. The party lost in the 2010 elections.

With this victory, 61-year-old Keir Starmer will be sworn in as Britain’s Prime Minister.
