Kerala : Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi are conducting research in Suralmalai, Kerala’s most affected by landslides. Massive landslides occurred in Mundakkai and Suralmalai in Wayanad in the early hours of Kantha July 30. More than 280 people were killed and 200 injured in these landslides.
Still, 240 people are said to be missing. As the rescue operations are going on for the 3rd day, more than 1,000 people have been rescued so far. Rahul Gandhi met and consoled the victims of the landslide at Meppadi Hospital in Wayanad.
Also, Rahul Gandhi inquired about the needs of the affected people and the measures taken. After this, Rahul Gandhi plans to visit the relief camps in Meppadi and meet the people. Officials have said that rescue work has been delayed in Mundakkai as it has started raining there again.
Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were to visit Wayanad yesterday to meet the landslide victims. However, due to incessant rain and bad weather there, their trip was suddenly canceled and they visited today.
