The fourth victory rally of United People’s Shakti for the 2024 presidential election was held at Ruvanwella Tehiovita Pradeshiya Sabha ground under the leadership of opposition leader Sajith Premadasa. A large number of people from the area including political leaders from United People’s Shakti participated in it. Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa mentioned this while addressing the meeting.
Even though various parties are saying that he did not take power, he is not where the Rajapaksas are. The President of this country has been the main protector of the Rajapaksas who have pushed this country into the abyss. The Leader of the Opposition said that he has been the IGP protecting the Rajapakshas and the Inspector General of Police protecting the Rajapakshas.
He does not run away from problems. I stand before the challenges for the presidential election. He also mentioned that he was not in a position to protect the leadership of the party by fielding other candidates. For the presidential election that is coming in a few days, let’s create an age of thanks and gratitude that won’t forget them by getting the votes of the people who won’t betray the people for political agreements with thieves, and change that age from a golden age of feeding the lower class to an age of catching thieves. The Leader of Opposition also said that he has no deal with thieves, fraudsters and corrupt people.
Instead of taking over the office of President because of his lack of dealings with thieves and corrupt people. I must be elected by the people for this presidential election. Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa said that as the owner of this country and not as a temporary caretaker, I will be a servant of the public and return the property of the country stolen by thieves to the country.
We are living in an age where selfishness is increasing and using unlimited power to take revenge, enmity, hostility and greed to nullify the power of people’s votes and maintain their existence. An unusual character has arisen within this community of people. Income inequality is increasing and poverty is increasing. More than half of the country has become poor. They have no solution. The Leader of the Opposition said that the entire society, from infants to children, mothers, youths, students and adults, is being forced into a difficult situation.
United People Power will usher in an era of corruption-free, transparent speaking of the truth and an economic renaissance. The country’s economy is in captivity. It is limited to microeconomics. The Leader of the Opposition said that despite stating that there is no problem in the country, despite the fact that there are no queues, even though they claim that everything has been rectified, they have completed the age of queues by eliminating relief, creating inconveniences and limiting the quality of life of the people.
The President is touring the country as per his wish. Servants and friends are given contracts and profits are made. People are stuck in poverty. The leader of the opposition party said that he will create an era to lift people out of poverty in this country where people cannot eat three meals a day.
I will take steps to convert uncultivated tea government lands and uncultivated private lands to plantation workers and unemployed youths into small tea producers and get their contribution to tea production. The Leader of the Opposition also said that he will take steps to encourage the producers who contribute more to the country’s tea production.
