Delhi: On the second day of new MPs taking office in the Lok Sabha session today, many Congress MPs including Rahul Gandhi and DMK MPs were sworn in. Then AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi took oath as Hyderabad MP.
Owaisi took the Brahmin oath of office in Urdu and then chanted Jai Bhim, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine. He also expressed his religious belief as Takbir Allahu Akbar. Then some MPs chanted Jai Sriram and there was a small ruckus in the House.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, who met the media on campus after the parliamentary event, said other members also shared what appeared to them in various ways. I said what I felt like ‘Jai Bhim, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine’. How can that be wrong?
Tell me if there is a constitutional law that says we should not say this? You should ask others as I asked myself. Read what Mahatma Gandhi said about Palestine, Azaduddin Owaisi told reporters.
