Uttar Pradesh: The Hadhras stampede that left 121 dead has shocked the country. Now, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi personally met the families of the deceased.
121 people lost their lives in a stampede at Bole Baba’s spiritual gathering in UP’s Hadhras district on July 2. Also, many seriously injured people are receiving treatment. 6 event organizers were arrested yesterday in this incident.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi personally met the families of the deceased in Pilagna village in Aligarh this morning and offered condolences. Rahul left Delhi early in the morning and traveled by road to Hadhras, Uttar Pradesh.
This is the first time that an opposition leader has visited the place after the incident. State Congress president Ajay Rai, state Congress in-charge Avinash Pandey, party spokesperson Supriya Shirinade and other officials visited there along with Rahul Gandhi.
After meeting the families of the deceased, Rahul said, “Many families have been affected and many have died. I don’t want to politicize this, there are flaws in the system that makes the ceremony happen. I think they should get more compensation as they are very poor families, I request the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to open his heart and give compensation,” he said.
