Like the entry-level bike segment in India, the 400-450cc segment has also seen increasing competition lately. Moreover, with the world’s leading premium bike companies like Triumph and Harley Davidson starting to launch low-cost 400cc bikes, the competition in the segment is still heating up. Here are the 400-450cc bikes expected to launch in India next.
Bajaj 400cc Lineup:
Earlier, Bajaj was selling only the Daminar 400 bike model in the 400cc bike segment. Following this, the company launched the new Pulsar NS400Z bike model a few weeks ago. Not stopping here, Bajaj has a few more 400cc bikes in its line-up.
One of them is an updated model of the Daminar 400. Bajaj is expected to launch the new Daminar model which will be lighter than the current Daminar 400. Apart from this, there are reports that Bajaj may also release a new Adventure Tourer model.
Bajaj is reportedly developing a 400cc version of the Pulsar RS200, one of Bajaj’s best-selling bikes in the 200cc segment, just like the NS400. Bajaj is said to use the same Dominar engine used in the NS400Z in the RS400 bike. It remains to be seen which of these bikes will make it to the final stage.
Triumph Thruxton 400:
Triumph has seen success with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X budget bikes. So, with their premium line-up in India, the company is planning to focus a bit more on this entry-level premium segment as well. Following the aforementioned 400cc bikes, the company is said to be planning to launch a new bike called the Thruxton 400.
While it is said that Triumph may use a new 398cc engine in this bike, it is expected that Triumph may launch this new bike at a price of Rs 2.50 lakh between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X currently on sale in the budget bike segment. It is said that the design of the company’s Speed Triple RR model will also be the design of the new Thruxton 400 model.
KTM’s New 390 Models:
KTM is testing the next generation RC 390 model overseas. But before launching this bike, it is said that the company will first launch the new 390 Adventure model. Along with these, the newly developed 390 Enduro model is also likely to join the lineup of KTM. The production version of this enduro model is said to be almost ready. These 390 models are expected to use the new liquid-cooled 399cc engine used in the 390 Duke. These models are likely to be introduced by KTM at this year’s EICMA event in Europe.
Royal Enfield’s New 450cc Roadster:
Based on the Hilamayan 450, Royal Enfield is developing a new 450cc Neo Retrograde roadster to compete with Triumph’s Speed 400. Recently Royal Enfield registered the name Guerilla 450 for trademark. Hence, the name is expected to be used by the company for the new roadster bike. Following the success of the Himalayan 450 model, Royal Enfield is developing this new 450cc roadster bike.
