Kanniyakumari: Final year studies at Trichy SRM Medical College Chennai And 12 medical college students from Trichy had come to Nagercoil on Sunday for the wedding of the brother of a practicing doctor named Muthukumar from Kanyakumari district.
After completing the wedding, they came to Kanyakumari this morning and enjoyed watching the sunrise. Later, around 10 am, they were bathing at the Lemur beach near Ganapathipuram. It is said that when 9 people went down to the sea and took a bath, they were dragged away by a giant wave.
Later, with the help of the fishermen and the public there, they rescued those trapped in the sea. In this, 3 people have already died. Also, two people who were rescued from the sea died on the way to the hospital by ambulance.
In this incident, five persons namely Sarukavi (24) from Tanjore, Gayatri (25) from Neyveli, Venkatesh (24) from Andhra Pradesh, Praveen (23) from Dindigul and Sarvadarshit (23) from Kumari have died. Their bodies have been kept at Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Five people got caught in the sea wave and died
The Rajakamangalam police are investigating in this regard. District Collector Sridhar had already issued a warning to the public not to go to the beach as the coastal areas in Kanyakumari district are prone to rough seas.
