As the 70th National Film Awards were announced today, Mani Ratnam’s Ponni’s Selvan-1 won 4 awards including Best Film in Tamil.
The 70th National Film Awards for the films released in 2022 were announced by the Union Ministry of Information and Technology in New Delhi today. In this, 309 films from across the country in various languages competed. Adapted from writer Kalki’s novel, Ponni’s Selvan-1 directed by Mani Ratnam won 4 awards including Best Film in Tamil.
Accordingly, ‘Ponniin Selvan-1’ was selected as the best film in Tamil. Also, AR Rahman won Best Background Score for Ponni’s Selvan-1. Ravivarman won the award for Best Cinematography and Anand Krishnamurthy for Best Sound Design for the same film.
Similarly, ‘KGF 2’ has been selected as the best Kannada language film, ‘Kartikeya 2’ as the best Telugu film, Saudhi Velakka as the best Malayalam film and Gulmogar as the best Hindi film. Rishabh Shetty who acted in the film Gandhara has been selected as the best actor. Similarly, Gandhara has been selected as the best entertainment film. Nithya Menon has been selected as the best actress for Thiruchirthambalam.
Similarly, the National Award for Best Choreography was announced to Johnny Master for the movie Tiruchirappalam. The National Award for Best Fighting Trainer for ‘KGF 2’ has been announced for the Anbariv brothers.
Similarly, the National Award for Best Playback Singer went to Bombay Jayashree for ‘Saudi Vellakka’. Arjit Singh was announced for Best Playback Singer for Brahmastra 1.
