21The Cabinet has approved the appointment with permanent pension to employees working on temporary, casual, alternate, contract and concessional basis in local government bodies.
In this regard, approval has been given to the cabinet paper submitted by the Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration, Internal Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Councils Dinesh Gunawardena.
Through this, 8,435 people working in local councils, city councils and municipal councils on temporary, casual, alternative, contractual and concessional basis will get permanent appointment.
A special discussion on speedy issuance of appointment letters was held in the Parliament building block under the leadership of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
Accordingly, it was decided to issue the appointment letters to all in the month of July.
