Utthamavillan is a 2015 movie directed by Ramesh Aravind and starring Kamal Haasan. The film was produced by director Lingusamy’s production company Tirupati Brothers. The film released amid huge expectations and was a critical failure.
Due to the fact that the film was a huge failure at the box office, the producer of the film, Tirupati Brothers, incurred a huge loss. A few days ago, Tirupati Brothers had given a written assurance that Kamal Haasan would once again act and produce a film for our company to compensate for the huge economic loss and financial crisis caused by the film “Uttama Villain” to our company.
In this situation, the Tirupati Brothers company has filed a complaint against Kamal Haasan in the producer’s association in the matter of Utthamavillan. In 2013, Tirupati Brothers talked about making a Tamil film. As the story told then was very liked by Tirupati Brothers, it was agreed that Rajkamal Films International would make the film for Tirupati Brothers at an estimate of Rs. 50 crores on the basis of the first copy.
Utthamavillan foreign rights Rs. 10 crore and North India rights of Rs 5 crore with Kamal Haasan taking the remaining Rs 35 crore (excluding foreign and North India rights) and the deal was signed between the two. Rajkamal Films International was given an advance of Rs.15 crore on the day the contract was signed.
Then on the third day of the release of the Malayalam film ‘Drishyam’, which was released and running successfully, Kamal Haasan was screened and asked to act and produce the film. But Kamal Haasan said that he did not like that story and said that he will tell another story. But Tirupati Brothers did not like the story told by Kamal Haasan.
After telling Tirupati Brothers that they did not like the story of Trishyam, Kamal Haasan agreed to talk to another production company. When Tirupati Brothers came to know about this information, they immediately contacted Kamal Haasan and asked him what he was doing. To which Kamal Haasan managed to tell you a different story.
Then Tirupati Brothers Company asked Kamal Haasan to act the story you first told as a film. That’s how the perfect villain film was created. Kamal Haasan told Tirupati Brothers that he would act in a film while the film was a loss.
After this, we have contacted Kamal Haasan 2 times in person and on phone, and even after nine years, the person who said that he will make the film for us has not done it, and all those who have given us credit for the release of the film are putting a lot of pressure on us. “We humbly request that our association intervene and hold talks with Kamal Haasan and get a call sheet to act and produce the story of our choice as per the letter of guarantee given by them,” Tirupati Brothers Company has complained.
